2.5 — Rule #4 — Advanced brainstorming (Tree-of-Thoughts)
🟢 In plain words — instead of asking for one answer, you ask the AI to propose several paths, compare them, then choose. You trade a quick answer for a more considered one.
Sometimes a problem is too rich for a single line of thought. Experts then use the Tree-of-Thoughts (ToT) — the “tree of thoughts.”
Instead of “Find me a slogan,” you write:
“Generate 3 very different slogan ideas. Then, critique each one (strengths / weaknesses). Finally, choose the best based on your own critiques and justify your choice.”
You force the AI to explore several branches (like a tree), evaluate them, then decide. Far more solid than a first-draft answer.
🕸️ Going further — Graph-of-Thoughts (GoT). An advanced variant where the AI doesn’t just keep separate branches: it combines and merges ideas from different branches, like a graph. Useful for problems where the best solution comes from blending several paths. (A research concept; rarely needed day-to-day.)
✅ In short
- Tree-of-Thoughts: generate several branches, critique them, then decide.
- Ideal for creative work (slogans, names, strategies) where the 1st idea is rarely the best.
- More solid than a first-draft answer — at the cost of a few extra seconds.
