5.3 — AI in Sales and Marketing (the lead machine)
This is often where AI generates the most money: it turns ’‘blind’’ prospecting into precise science.
- Lead scoring (rating prospects): AI analyzes the behavior of potential customers (what they click, read, download) to guess which ones are ready to buy now.
- Pipeline automation: instead of typing each email by hand, an AI agent does research on a company, writes an ultra-personalized message and handles the follow-ups autonomously. The human salesperson steps in to close.
🔧 We’ll build it for real in 5.5 — with Make + Airtable + ChatGPT. It’s exactly the agent sketched in Level 3 (3.9) and secured in Level 4 (4.8).
🟢 In plain words — lead scoring means putting a grade on each prospect to know which one to call back first. Instead of contacting 100 people at random, the salesperson focuses on the 10 most likely to buy. Less effort, more sales.
🧩 Concrete example — a craftsman receives 30 quote requests a week through his website. An agent reads each message, spots the buying signals (’‘budget approved’’, ’‘for next month’’) and sorts the requests into hot / warm / cold. The craftsman calls the ’‘hot’’ ones first thing in the morning, while they’re still motivated. (Illustration; results depend on context.)
✅ In short
- Lead scoring = rating prospects to handle the hottest ones first.
- The agent can also write personalized messages and handle follow-ups.
- The human keeps the highest-value task: closing the sale.
